Deep Purple 'Guilt Trippin'' by Tom Readdy, Lucy Dawkins
Promonews - 2nd July 2026
For Deep Purple’s Guilt Trippin’, Tom Readdy and Lucy Dawkins have made an animated video that turns a crash into a surreal, high-speed trip through shifting landscapes, warped perspectives and symbolic imagery.
"Ian Gillan has said the title of the band’s new album SPLAT! came from an old notebook, inspired by the image of a fly hitting a windscreen, with the “splat” becoming a way into bigger ideas about humanity and metaphysical transformation," explain Readdy and Dawkins
"We used that idea as the basis for the video, following a fly on a fast journey towards impact that opens out into a psychedelic breakthrough. We also drew from the album sleeve and boxset artwork, including the strange sycamore-seed craft, expanding that visual world into our animated narrative."
