Shame 'Spartak' by Charlie Steen
Promonews - 3rd Oct 2025
Frontman Charlie Steen takes charge of the video for the final single from shame's new album Cutthroat, and keeps things simple and effective.
Steen brings his usual punchy charisma to a performance of Spartak while roaming apparently deserted landmark locations in London in a suit and tie, like an everyman office worker at the end of a hard day. Eventually he's joined by his bandmates, in a less grand corner of London, to kick back on a summer's evening.
With the help of DoP Will Gethin's excellent work, particularly in the scenes shot around Westminster, Charlie Steen has done a very good job with his directing debut. It's more unassuming than their previous videos but still feels in keeping with the band's edgy and antagonistic relationship with the rest of the world.
