Matt Wilde 'Smile Today' by James Killeen
Promonews - 6th Aug 2025
James Killeen captures jazz pianist and producer Matt Wilde performing his track Smile Today while on the move - inside a cosy, plant-filled mobile home drifting through Tatton Park.
The concept was born from Matt Wilde’s idea of taking his home studio on the road, which long-time friend Killeen - whose DOP credits include Meekz' Mini Me, Aitch's Famous Girl, Skepta x Portable's Tony Montana - helped refine, grounding it in reality.
So there's both a sense of calmness with personality in this well-executed idea. Wilde is joined by trumpeter Aaron Wood 'on the road', to gently mirror the the track’s central message: an invitation to pause, reflect, and simply smile. And the humble van becomes into a moving sanctuary of sunlight, vinyl, and soft jazz harmony.
The song is lifted from Matt WIlde’s upcoming LP Find a Way (out October 10 via his new label Hello World Records),
