In an ordinary room, faced with an old-fashioned typewriter and a blank page, Frew gives an increasingly physical response to the condition that many creatives fear most. Harding-Kemp gets to the heart of its soul-crushing effects in her astute direction of his performance, her use of simple props - and showing that the room is the physical manifestation of his mental captivity.

The writer writes himself into oblivion - eventually on the walls of his cage.
