Director duo Charlie & Charlie exploit the potential of the title of Hard Life's next single, with frontman Murray Maltravers transformed into a sympathetic version of the reviled figure of fairytales in the video for Ogre.

Maltravers' ogre is a lonely, lovelorn figure, who is cleaning a deserted school in the aftermath of an end-of-school year party. He drifts through his duties in the classroom, gym and playground, surrounded by silence and longing. 

Charlie & Charlie allow the evidence of the departed students to offer the intriguing hint of a past narrative for Murray's character as he goes around his tasks. With a cinematic approach and lovely use of natural light, the video - shot at a college in Preston - could be the post-script to a school-set John Hughes movie.
