The Black Keys 'Beautiful People (Stay High)' by Chris Saunders
Rob Ulitski - 1st Feb 2024
Chris Saunders directs a joyous promo for the first single from The Black Keys' new album Ohio Players - filmed in London, Chicago and Johannesburg.Â
Saunders' video for Beautiful People (Stay High) is a thoroughly international production, spanning a variety of different locations within each city in which it was shot, with a wide variety of interesting characters. But it has a universal theme, where each subject is simply engaging in boisterous dancing, and lipsyncing to the track.
Saunders hooked up with a small team in each territory to film the subjects, working with three DoPs on the project:Â Flynn Drew in Chicago; Alex Jamin in London;Â Ofentse Mwase in Jo'burg.
The result is an intoxicatingly joyous montage of carefree choreography - vibrant, playful and endlessly watchable. A standout visual from Saunders and team, which has just as much replay appeal as the track.
