Sleafords Mods' version of the Pet Shop Boys' classic from 1986 is the cover that we never knew we needed - a faithful rendition of the original, in the Mods' initimable style. And Ewan Spencer also stays faithful to the original video for West End Girls, drawing enjoyable parallels between Jason and Andrew, and Neil and Chris.

It's a gem, and it's for a very good cause. Profits generated by the single are being donated by the Mods to Shelter, following the band's previous work with the charity, most recently raising funds through a limited-edition T-shirt featuring Cold War Steve's artwork for single UK GRIM.

So lets all make it the Christmas No.1. Or at least No.2, after Fairytale Of New York...
