Peter Gabriel created one of the most cherished music videos ever back in the 1980s with Sledgehammer - and he's still breaking new ground. 

In the lead-up to the release of his first album in over a decade, he ran a competition asking AI developers and animators to create visuals for the tracks that have already been released. Here is one of the joint winners of the competition.

And Junie Lau's video for The Court draws on Gabriel's long and illustrious past, using photography and video from his career to create the range of characters in this sci-fi courtroom-set blockbuster. Lau manages to tame the excesses of the medium to create something watchable and very much for Gabriels' fanbase. It also has that sense of fun as well as creativity which is at the core of those classic Gabriel videos, for Sledgehammer, Big Time and others.

Lau is no beginner. Based in Shanghai and London she has exhibited at the RA and had her artwork featured in British Vogue. But she has now embraced the new technology wholeheartedly.

In her comment published under the video on YouTube she writes: "I employed a diverse range of AI tools, including Stable Diffusion, DreamStudio, Kaiber, Deforum, ChatGPT, Midjourney, Dalle-2, and many others. Moving forward, my plan is to continue advancing this project by harnessing the latest AI tools."
