Louis Carnell 'Cast' by Daleya Marohn
Rob Ulitski - 7th Aug 2023
Daleya Marohn explores movement and dance through a spatial relationship of lines and colour, in the absorbing short film Tarpaulin Blue.Â
Featuring music by Louis Carnell and cinematography by Julian Hohndorf, the video uses colour as its central focus, with plenty of shades of blue in everything from the location to textures of the clothing.Â
"I was inspired by London's scaffolding, covered by blue tarpaulin as a way of evoking emotions of feeling blue," Marohn says.Â
The concept is a unique way of visualising an emotional state, and as the video progresses, the amalgam of colour, music and movement embodies a sense of melancholy and nostalgia, elevated by dancer Freja Jenkin's intimate performance.Â
