Way back at the dawn of animated cartoons, the early shorts by Walt Disney, shown in movie theatres, were labelled Silly Symphonies. Now, LA-based animator Grant Kolton has single-handedly created the modern equivalent - an eight minute tour de force of 2D cartoon joy.

The symphony here is an eight minute epic by Michigan bluegrass jam band Greensky Bluegrass - the title track of their latest album, Stress Dream. It's the launch pad for a tantalising work.​ We enter the colourful yet perilous world of our hero - a bear, or a ghost, or both - and join a nail-biting journey.

Kolton revels in the endless possibilities of his medium with a sense of fun and wit worthy of Walt himself.
