Samuel Douek directs a cinematic performance promo for Tashan. 

In the video for Oprah, Tashan faces off ‘The Bad Guy’ in an all-or-nothing, high-stakes astrological poker game. She puts her fate in the hands of the deity Aquarius when betting it all, securing her inevitable victory.

"It was an amazing experience getting to direct this music video," says Douek. "The song is about being a bad-ass bitch - inspired by the eponymous TV personality - and that natural stardom is something the artist emanates. The aesthetic for the film was inspired by Tashan’s Swiss and Indian heritage and transports us to a surreal future where amber skies tower over cyber cities."

The rich colour palettes and inspired art direction help bring the concept to life, and the setups are  seamlessly integrated through clever visual effects work. 

"The VFX were created by the amazing Felix Geen to move between the reality of the poker game and the metaphorical fantasy of intergalactic travel," continues Douek. 

"We managed to pull off a really ambitious shoot with an incredibly talented crew. From the creative director Anita Chibba (Diet Paratha) to the art director Furmaan Ahmed and stylist Sachin Gogna, we were able to pay tribute to Tashan’s heritage with a crew made up predominantly of South Asian HODs in an authentic way whilst catapulting the film into an otherworldly future."
