Sarah Proctor 'Not For Me' by Chris Fowles
Rob Ulitski - 18th Nov 2021
Chris Fowles directs an emotional promo for Sarah Proctor, following the lives of two young girls, for the track Not For Me.
The video explores the angst of our teenage years, through a poignant and engaging narrative set in a secondary school - based upon Sarah Proctor's own experiences.
The calm, deliberate cinematography perfectly encapsulates the themes of the concept, whilst the central performances are strong and believeable.
CHRIS FOWLES:
We developed the story carefully alongside Sarah, mindful of what to show and how.
"The video is a coming-of-age true story based on Sarah's time growing up at secondary school.
"It's set during that time around 15-16 when you're still figuring out who you are. Sarah and her best friend are incredibly close, and the film explores that kind of relationship, and the confusion when you develop feelings for someone but they don't feel the same way.
"We developed the story carefully alongside Sarah, mindful of what to show and how. We cast some of her old friends for the reunion scene to keep it as authentic as possible.
"The attention to detail was great. Sarah even brought along her old prom dress, so the pink dress you see our lead Sophie wearing is the real dress she wore to prom."
