James Blake, slowthai 'Funeral' by The Rest
Rob Ulitski - 14th Oct 2021
Directing duo The Rest direct a sombre monochromatic film for James Blake & slowthai's collaboration on Funeral.
In the middle of a funeral procession, stuck in a traffic jam in the middle of nowhere, the artists take a break to pause, whilst the camera circles around them. Though it isn't explicitly stated, the lyrics suggest that this is their own funeral, though the abstract nature of the narrative is one of the true draws of the project.
Culminating in one of humanity's true comforts - a takeaway, delivered by an app driver - it's a thought-provoking and unique video for a great track.
