Joanna ft Laylow 'Démons' by Marius Gonzalez
Marius Gonzalez provides further evidence of prodigious potential with this seethingly visceral video, where indie artist Joanna teams with actress Raika Hazanavicius to play a criminal pair whose seduction-strategy leads to murder.
Layers of love, lust, jealousy pulsate through proceedings, as Joanna's mark falls under her spell, and triggers a mixed reaction from Raika, while guest artist Laylow, plays the demonic devilish character of the songtitle, prompting the couple into serious acts of Badness.
Gonzalez's palette of stormy red, with rumbling sound design sets the scene, and his camera never stops moving, establishing a scenario where anything can happen. "The real starting point for the music video is Wong Kar-wai's Fallen Angels," says the director. "I'm a fan of the visual universe and especially this story of a criminal duo."
