Hasan 'Millennium' by Andrey Trevgoda

A waitress at a swish cocktail bar has an important mission in Andrey Trevgoda's gripping video for Hasan's Millennium.
Sitting by a washing machine whilst downing a glass of whisky, we see the aforementioned waitress staring into thin air whilst a robotic voiceover gives her some very clear instructions. Get drinks, make use of a distraction and spit poison into the glasses of a certain group of men. It sounds simple enough, but our protagonist doesn't look all too pleased.
Jumping into a one-take structure from then on, the mysterious visual takes us on a journey whilst the waitress gets frisked by security, delivers the table their food, and shares knowing glances with Hasan, who is performing on stage. Building to a climax that is unexpected to say the least, this thriller-style concept keeps us guessing until the very end.
Shot on 16mm with a raw, grainy aesthetic, this project pays homage to arthouse thrillers of the 80s and 90s, and looks damn good whilst doing so. Dmitriev Aleksandr utilises the mixed lighting conditions to great effect, unafraid to drop right into the blacks or overexpose into muddy coloured hues, and this gives the aesthetic a vintage and realistic vibe.
