Amy May Ellis 'Lonely Loving' by Natasha Wigoder
Maker, illustrator and animator Natasha Wigoder has created a suitably handmade film for Yorkshire-born singer-songwiter Amy May Ellis's delightful acoustic number Lonely Loving.
A man wakes to walk a deserted city at night, and into the country, to witness a dawn and a new beginning.
“Amy and I met whilst living on London’s canals, and a collaboration seemed inevitable. When Amy finished recording her EP We Got Fire, she played me Lonely Loving and very quickly we began visualising a storyboard.
"The puppets and set were made mostly on my narrowboat, and the video was shot at Studio Kix over four long days in March, with the amazing DoP Alexander Michaelis. Willem Olenski then edited and added some VFX magic.
"The narrative follows a character whose restlessness one night carries them out of the city into nature . The viewer is invited to join him on this journey; together we discover the peace and beauty that can come from feeling small in the world. Amy is from Farndale in Yorkshire and the EP was recorded in her hometown. The landscape that the little man escapes to in search of solitude feel very reminiscent of the moors."
