Dermot Kennedy 'For Island Fires And Family' by Brendan Canty
Promo News - 17th Jan 2019
Brendan Canty brings Dermot Kennedy to Inis Mór, off the west coast of Ireland, for the video for Island Fires And Family.
It's a place with deep personal connections for the artist, and Canty has made a very evocative video for this very personal song. The video was shot on various formats by DoP Colm Hogan, who captures the extraordinary wild beauty of the island.
BRENDAN CANTY:
"Dermot’s Aunt Deirdre lives on Inis Mór island off the west coast of Ireland and the song is an ode to her, the island and family time spent around her fire.
"They wanted to make a docu-music video capturing his relationship with the island. The weather in December there is always so wet and wild so we needed luck big time and we got it! We happened to get a window of two rain free days right after a storm - which left behind some insanely dramatic skies for us.
"Colm Hogan shot it for me, he is one of the best DOP’s in Ireland and lives on the West coast so knew the island inside out. He’s also the best aerial cinematographer in Ireland so I could not have a better person to work with for this. The footage they captured was just insane. I’m thrilled with the end result - I feel like it captures the wildness of the island through a nostalgic window and gives a lot of weight to the song."
