Novelist 'Nov Wait Stop Wait (Live)' by João Retorta
Boiler Room have once again been selected as their official content partner for the UK’s most prestigious album award, the Hyundai Mercury Prize, and in order to produce the first in a series of performance-led pieces featuring Mercury-nominated artists, Boiler Room teamed up with regular collaborator, director João Retorta, to capture Novelist, on location, in his home borough Lewisham.
Retorta delivers a raw and intimate glimpse of Nov discussing how his experiences growing up and the visualisation of people listening to his music drive his process, before leading into a gritty live performance.
Nov comments: "It’s important that people make full bodies of work because that’s when you get someone’s true expression. It gives you more of an insight into their world. For it to be considered as a great piece of art, even be put up for an award like the Hyundai Mercury Prize, that’s a massive thing for me."
