Daniel Avery 'Glass' by Tom Andrew & Sam Davis
Tom Andrew and Sam Davis's video for Daniel Avery has taken a comment by the DJ/producer and made it their inspiration.
Avery has said that he's “increasingly interested in those moments in a club when the outside world becomes little more than an inconsequential thought at the back of your skull." So Andrew and Davis have used thermal imaging cameras alongside conventionally-shot footage to document the people and happenings at a club night, somewhere in the UK.
It's strikingly effective. The thermal imaging footage adds an eery, near-alien dimension to proceedings, stripping away the usual club surroundings of smoke and strobes. With additional imagery created in the studio, this replicates the inner dynamic of the clubber's experience, just as Avery describes.
