Moby 'Mere Anarchy' by Rob Gordon Bralver
David Knight - 12th Feb 2018
Rob Gordon Bralver's second video for a track from Moby's new album Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt, follows thematically from the first, with a suited Moby wandering a depopulated Earth.
Whereas his widescreen vistas and performances are separate in the previous video for Like A Motherless Child, Bralver brings the two parts together for Mere Anarchy, as Moby and his companion cut alienated figures within landscapes of combining natural beauty and industrial decay, with a nod to the sci-fi classics like A Man Who Fell To Earth, and the photography of Anton Corbijn.
In a statement, Moby described the video as "post apocalypse, people are gone, and my friend Julie and I are time traveling aliens visiting the empty Earth." And both this and Like A Motherless Child suggest a welcome return to form.Â
