Mill+ animation director Aran Quinn teamed up with French / Irish singer, ‘song scribbler’ Samyel to direct and animate a striking music video for his recently released song Allumette. That's French for 'matchstick', and Allumette is a lustful story about a man’s burning desire for a woman, explored through the fire of a match.

Each character and object were animating frame by frame, creating a flickering aesthetic that lends itself to the raw nature of the lyrics. It's also evidently inspired by the classics: namely, Renaissance sculptures and Ancient Greek art. Quinn has paired this style with a hot, primary colour palette to produce a simple, yet striking results.
