James Blake 'I Need A Forest Fire' (ft. Bon Iver) by UVA
Luke Bather - 13th May 2016
James Blake's penchant for the arts stretches ever further - after enlisting Quentin Blake to take care of album artwork duties, he's turned to London-based multi-disciplinary arts practitioners United Visual Artists (or UVA if you're so inclined) to direct the mysterious visuals for his latest single.
The video is comprised of gorgeous, abstract sculptures and scenes which are manipulated by both perspective and light. Shadows are a key lyrical theme within the track, and here that is translated to the visual medium and used to redefine the context of arranged shapes, until they make fleeting sense, unified for a second to form object.
These recognisable objects melt into one another just in time for your brain to register them before the spectral movement of the camera forms yet more dark apparitions that haunt the visual space.
