Gabe 'Nandez 'Something' by Xavier Damase
New director Xavier Damase's performance video for Gabe Nandez' Something, follows the underground Montreal rapper as he cruises around with his crew in his G Class.
Capturing a rap performance in sleek HD moves as well as lo-fi footage, Xavier explains, "the idea was to place the video straight in the legacy of hip-hop music videos by juxtaposing its two dominant strands of iconography.
"The fashion clothes, the penthouses and expensive cars alongside the gritty lifestyle of an underground MC. It’s this duality that generates the singularity, strength and energy of the song. And it’s this friction I hear in Something and see in Gabe’s character that I wanted to express in the music video.”
