"Visually, we took our inspiration from Michael Haneke films such as Funny Games and Amour, in which the horrific and the grotesque emerges from mundane, sunlit environments.

"Working with Arthur was incredible because he's such a brave artist. Our aesthetic sensibilities are closely aligned and it was a real opportunity to explore some of the more abject and "difficult" territories of filmmaking. It's rare that an artist is not only willing to go there with you but is excited about it."
