American indie pop duo Mates of State - consisting of married couple Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel - have released this charming little video for their track Staring Contest.

The idea for the video was based on their own daughter's introduction to her class. "Kids are allowed to bring in a book to read to the class. June instead chose to sing an Adele song to them."

They paired up with director Will Kindrick to take the courageous little girl's performance up a notch. "We re-imagined this performance into a full-on blow out party. During the song bridge, we play homage to the fight scene in Michael Jackson's Beat It video. The kids skipped school, we flew to California to film in Pasadena." It's safe to say Gardner and Hammel are the coolest parents ever.
