Young Guns 'Daylight' by Stuart Birchall
Cat Velez - 29th May 2015
Stuart Birchall has delivered this dark, emotive piece for the Young Guns' track Daylight. Isolated and trapped in dystopian, shadowy interiors, characters face their struggles before the light comes in, casting the darkness away.
STUART BIRCHALL:
"Working with Young Guns was a pleasure, a really great bunch of guys. Very respectful and invested in the creative process. They trusted me to develop my ideas and concepts and tell a simple and powerful story with a less traditional structure. I have been busy developing my first feature film project over the last year and as a result worked on fewer music promos, it was really great to come back and work with the crew and a very talented band on a project that allowed me to explore some very strong narrative concepts.
"These include themes of identity, sexuality, fear of the unknown future of the species and consciousness. I always strive to make each promo a film in its own right, developing layered narratives. Working with dystopian themes was fun for me, working with a very strong ensemble cast who delivered some very powerful emotive performances throughout made for a very striking film we are all very happy with."
