Newly-formed animation team Bug & Sluzzy serve up a dark and painfully pertinent animated video for Run The Jewels’ track Early.

The politically charged lyrics of Killer Mike and El-P take centre stage in these highly stylized visuals, exploring a climate of violence and racial discrimination in modern America. While graphically integrated quick-fire text emphasizes the weighty lyrics, shadowy figures act out scenes of police brutality and protest in a stark world of black, white and red.

The nightmarish vision combines with the track seamlessly to give us what is ultimately a very intimate perspective of the effects of structural injustice on an individual’s psyche.
