Siska 'Unconditional Rebel' by Guillaume Panariello
David Knight - 17th Feb 2015
Guillaume Panariello's outstanding video for Siska's Unconditional Rebel is a single tracking shot through a sequence of random, offbeat, increasingly chaotic scenes involving 80 extras which the director describes as "the shortest shooting ever."
What's revealed over its three and half minute length apparently took just five seconds in real time, filmed at 1000 frames/second with a Phantom Flex 4K from a car driven at 50km/h along 80 metres of road. Which isnt to say that it was quite finished after that: Benoit Maffone at La Planète Rouge supplied the additional VFX magic.
The result is a hugely welcome return from the director who won an MVA in 2012 for his brilliantly anarchic video for The Death Set.
