Hudson Taylor 'Weapons' by Lucy Tcherniak
Jimmy Brown - 11th Feb 2014
Shot on location at the Crumlin Road Prison in Belfast, Lucy Tcherniak contrasts very poignantly Hudson Taylor's acoustic ballad Weapons, with the brutal reality of life as an inmate.
Starring Liam McMahon and a cast of locals playing the other prisoners and screws, producer Ben Falk explains:
"Lucy cast Liam after seeing his performance in Steve McQueen's 'Hunger', and quickly discovered there was no challenge she could throw at him that he wouldn't rise to.
"They worked very closely on developing the narrative, under continued consultation with ex-offenders Michael Diamond (playing Liam's cellmate) and Kieran King (playing the lead screw) whose input was invaluable in creating something authentic, basing many of the scenes on their real life experiences."
