Catherine Bennett 'The Future ' by Tom Levinge
In an attack against the sexualisation of children in pop music, performance artist Bryony Kimmings asked her 9 year old niece Taylor to create a pop star she felt comfortable with who would be a positive influence on young people. So from the imagination of a little girl, came 'Catherine Bennett'.
Bryony becomes the character in her theatre piece Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model, which gained some rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe in August. And the character also has a life outside of her theatre piece, with music videos and singles like her most recent, The Future, in which she outlines a charmingly naive vision of what the future might hold for us. And Tom Levinge has visualized it all in his lo-fi but VFX-heavy performance video for the track.
