Clean Bandit 'Dust Clears' by Clean Bandit
David Knight - 25th June 2013
Clean Bandit have got something special going on: an eclectic bunch of musicians who make accessible dance-pop with trad instruments, and also make their own utterly distinctive videos, usually featuring a band performance in one or more unlikely but identifiable situations.
This one for Dust Clears is no exception, beginning on the shopfloor of a factory, where the foreman breaks into song by the heat of a blowtorch before transforming into a priest in old-fashioned clothing, iceskating on a frozen lake - and then introducing a guy on an 'ice skateboard'. It was shot in Sweden by the band with singer/pianist/director Jack Patterson engaging support from old friends from film school.Â
They write on YouTube: "We created and filmed the video ourselves completely and had an amazing time shooting it on a frozen lake in Sweden. Two of Jack's friends from film school who helped us make the Mozart's House video came to Sweden to help with this one too: Anna Patarakina and Daria Novitskaya. Big thank you to them and Nick Martin, the skater featured in the video."
