"I wanted to do something that was highly ambiguous whilst remaining intriguing," says Hesky. "It actually started out as a really basic idea that just kept on evolving as the days went by. We had a great subject in actress Laura Carter. She's one of those people that the lens just takes to with little effort.

"In terms of the studio, we actually shot that in my house in South London, dropping all sorts of elements into water, from gone-sour milk to food colouring. It was important for me to keep all the effects in camera, for the organic feel you're left with. Plus it reduces post-production time massively, which was ideal being a one man band on this one."
