First Aid Kit 'Blue' by Daniel Wirtberg

David Knight - 9th July 2012

A classy Swedish-made video for the sisters Söderberg, aka First Aid Kit, and their lovely song Blue. It's an absorbing tale directed by Daniel Wirtberg - who directed the haunting and mysterious video for Little Dragon's Crystalfilm a few months back - and featuring Ewa Fröling as a faded, Garbo-esque beauty, working up the courage to leave the seclusion of her rambling mansion.

"We wanted to make an homage to old classic movies and create a vintage feeling that felt right for the song," says Daniel. "The video is shot in a really old mansion in the midwest of Sweden, where we got full access and could dress it the way we wanted.
Production designer Anna Natalia Siemonsen did an amazing job in building the universe of this woman, and really used the props to help tell the story. "Ewa Fröling - one of the lead actresses of Ingmar Bergman´s Fanny and Alexander - fell for the treatment and decided to play the woman, which of course was a pure bliss for the production. As an actress she possesses just the qualities I was looking for in this character. "A big crew of devoted and talented people made this video possible, working pro bono out of passion for the film storytelling so that production value could match the treatment despite the video´s low budget." http://www.youtube.com/watchv=IL-sm1rEtiU&hd=1
