Esser 'Enmity' by Elisha Smith-Leverock

Jimmy Brown - 18th May 2012

Elisha Smith-Leverock's visually appealing Dadaist promo for Esser's Enmity was shot over one day (on 9 rolls of 16mm) echoing the stark nature of the soundtrack to good effect.

Elisha Smith-Leverock's visually appealing Dadaist promo for Esser's Enmity was shot over one day (on 9 rolls of 16mm) echoing the stark nature of the soundtrack to good effect. "The work of Hans Richter was a big source of inspiration for this video," explains Elisha. "There is something very rhythmical and entrancing about his films, which I feel is mirrored in Esser's music. "I also like the naivety and simplicity of the techniques, the rhythmical jump-cuts and the impact of repeated images. Ryan Boucher, the editor, did an amazing job at taking these types of editing techniques and making them feel fresh and new." <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1OYVGsg2dT0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""/>
