One of Joel Trussell most celebrated videos is for M Ward's Chinese Translation, from a few years back. Now here's something of a sequel, for The First Time I Ran Away, from M's forthcoming LP A Wasteland Companion (his first for a while without She & Him companion Zooey Deschanel).

It's a marvellous song - in the spirit of Glen Campbell & Jimmy Webb's genius collaborations - translated by Joel with a strong fidelity to the lyrics but also a Japanese theme delivered in that inimitable animation style all his own. Great stuff.
