Paper Crows 'When Friends Survive' by Zaiba Jabbar
Zaiba Jabbar creates a feast of mesmerising visuals for Paper Crows' video for When Friends Survive, where basic shots of the band - that's synth/vocal duo Emma Panas and Duncan McDougall - contrast strongly with richly colourful, very watchable abstract flourescent imagery.
"I wanted the film to explore the use of different textures out of context and juxtapose these visuals with a overall mysterious no-man's-land vibe," says Zaiba. "I was initially inspired by those weird but fun American science experiments involving milk, food dye and washing up liquid- and the rest of the abstract visual explorations kind of grew from there.
"It's rare that the details of mundanity are appreciated and I wanted to bring out the drama in these elements to mimic the dramatic moments in the track. A huge thanks to Alun Davies and team who were enthusiastic about milk and powder paint as I was."
