Kingpin 'I Need Money' by Mike Tyler
Mike Tyler from Pinewood-based Burning Reel Productions directed and animated this promo for Kingpin's debut single I Need Money, turning the young rapper's quest for riches into an old school video game.
It was produced using nearly 1000 stills of the artist and other characters, and required hours of rotoscoping and compositing to achieve the exact look of an early-Nineties arcade computer game that Mike was looking for. And Kingpin shows that negotiating the screen journey to Fame & Fortune is almost as hard, perilous and possibly fleeting as the real thing...
And the team at Burning Reel, more accustomed to producing live action work, have another hand-drawn animated piece due for release next month.
