From Lux Girl To… by Florian Malak
David Knight - 24th Feb 2011
A remarkable transformation by Polish actress Karolina Gruszka is the core of Florian Malak's video/short film featuring jazz combo Dom's Rewind, filmed at Warsaw Central Station. At the start she's a rich and stylish young woman, but her deterioration through the film to desperate down-and-out is remorseless.

Gruszka has worked with David Lynch and Ivan Wyrypayew, and Florian Malak says: "The screenplay was written especially with Karolina in mind. Our crew was amazed by her professional attitude and modesty." With outstanding makeup by Ewa Drobiec, the film was beautifully shot by Wojtek Zieli?ski - on a digital SLR. "Thanks to such a small camera most of people could not spot our crew," Florian continues. "Some of them did not realise that we were filming and were convinced that Karolina was actually a homeless woman."
