Tom Haines has directed this fine ad-cum-promo for The Surreal House - the new exhibition at The Barbican in London. An appropriately abstract love story was filmed at the exhibition itself, where Tom and cameraman Steve Annis faced some daunting issues. "We were working among artworks worth millions so we couldn't really light it," says Tom. "A bit of winging it was involved. But it was a nice project, we had free rein. What I was going for was a wonky version of a perfume ad." Produced independently with Pinky Ghundale (who works with Steve McQueen and the Wilson Twins on their art films) it is also effectively Tom's first 30 second ad, and now it will be shown at the Barbican and Renoir cinemas and online. Tom's next project is a video for the Spanish band Hola a todo el mundo.
