Wild Beasts’ We Still Got the Taste Of Dancin' On Our Tongues by Luke Seomore & Joseph Bull
David Knight - 11th Feb 2010
The Wild Beasts' new video features the band floating horizontally, without visible means of support, mostly through a small blizzard. Nice.
It's directed by Luke Seomore & Joseph Bull, filmmakers whose acclaimed feature-length documentary Isolation, shown at the Edinburgh International Film Festival last year, followed photographer and ex-soldier Stuart Griffiths as he explored the stories behind troubling military statistics - including the large number of ex-soldiers who end up homeless. They've also directed videos and docs for The Last Shadow Puppets, Tricky and Duffy.
Luke and Joseph's video for We Still Got The Taste Of Dancing On Our Tongues was commissioned by Domino's Bart Mcdonagh after they had filmed the band at Hoxton Hall. It was shot in December - photographed by David Proctor - in very testing conditions: the band 'floated' through Essex countryside and sparse East London streets during the course of a freezing, snowy night. Luke suffered mild frostbite as a result, but this is both dream-like and arresting.
