Copenhagen Crisis giant petition – a message from Dougal Wilson

David Knight - 16th Dec 2009

Last weekend Dougal Wilson, Lorraine Prince and Lucy Gilliam - aka Team Carbon Cycle - completed their epic 260 mile cycle ride from London to Copenhagen, to raise awareness of the UN Climate Summit in the Danish capital, and raise money for Friends of the Earth and Recycle: Bicycle Aid For Africa. The trip took seven days - and here's a tired-but-happy looking Dougal at the big Copenhagen climate change demo on Saturday.

But now, as world leaders gather in Copenhagen for the climax of the climate talks, there is a real possibility of the summit ending in failure, and a compromise agreement, allowing a 2C rise in global temperature, which will have a devastating impact on the planet.

Dougal has an urgent message, so that everyone does the utmost to prevent that happening. Please do what he says:

Hello everyone - we're back from Copenhagen. We had an amazing
experience/ordeal. Thanks so very very much to everyone who sponsored us - we raised over £3000 for Re-Cycle and Friends of The Earth.
(there's still time to 'posthumously' sponsor us...

Amazingly, our bike ride hasn't quite saved the climate yet. With three
days to go, Copenhagen's crucial last-ditch summit to stop catastrophic
global warming is failing; and only massive public pressure can save it. So
please sign the giant petition below - it may be the largest in history :

Tomorrow, the world's leaders arrive for an unprecedented 60 hours of direct
negotiations. Experts agree that without a tidal wave of public pressure for
a deal, the summit will not stop catastrophic global warming of 2 degrees.

Click below to sign the petition for a real deal in Copenhagen.
The campaign already has a staggering 10 million supporters - let's make it
the largest petition in history in the next 72 hours! Every single name is
actually being read out at the summit -- sign on at the link here and
forward this email to everyone!

Dougal
xx
