Superbowl XLIII: Cash4Gold ad

Last night in Florida, where presumably it wasn't snowing so hard, it was Superbowl XLIII - the most important day of the year for American TV advertising, with a football game thrown in (Pittsburgh beat Arizona in another thriller).
And if there was ever a sign o' the times ad, it's this one for Cash4Gold.com, featuring a very ancient Ed ("heeeeere's Johnny") McMahon and MC Hammer.
A jawdropper, and begs the question: if they're making ads like this for real, what's the point of The Simpsons
