Munster 'Monte' Bdawi delivers a tense, cinematic drama for South London duo Ill Move Sporadic, beautifully shot by Stephen Price. Heavy on action and a starring role for a vintage Pontiac GTO, Munster had this to say about the video:
"The dedication the band have to a specific sound and high quality production, gave me the idea of featuring an extra character to the video, known as ‘The Chicken Wire Man’". 

"My inspiration for ‘The Chicken Wire Man’ was that he could have actually been built in the garage/studio, where ‘Ill Move Sporadic’ creates music. I imagined what else could be built in the garage, with all the creativity that flows through this small area, elements in the studio have come to life. A result of this creativity is a chicken wire robot which saves the group from enemies.

"The concept of the music video was inspired by the individuals behind 'Ill Move Sporadic', the group's personalities, creativity and dedication to their music, needed to shine through the production. 

"In this video I wanted to communicate creativity through the chicken wire robot and show how ideas can come to life. Also featured in the video is a red 1966 Pontiac GTO, as the group rise through the video, like ‘Mercury’. This adds to the creative theme and shows that ideas can make anything possible.

Now it has a promo by none other than Tim Hope, making a very welcome return to music videos, with a gripping tale of revenge - by ducks. 
When a bunch of London gang members wreak havoc and misery in their local hood, its only a trio of brave mallards that have the guts - and the wings and most importantly, the beaks - to stand up to the scumbags. 
More grittily violent than Harry Brown, more unlikely than Attack The Block, and a lot shorter than both.

Filmed in Los Angeles, Rousseau relied on footage provided by the studio of the film and also rebuilt actual sets to look just like the scenes from the movie. 
"The team over at Dots &amp; Effects then worked their magic, seamlessly integrating our footage with the film's to introduce Pitbull into the world of Men in Black," he adds. "They successfully integrated both worlds."

"Shot just outside Stockholm, I'm trying to tell the story about the Swedish winter," explains Magnus. "The extras were working so hard not to freeze to death - but they just kept on going. Dammit that was a cold day."

"The Donots wanted to go somewhere hot," explains Magnus. "The brief said sun, sand and waves. But when we arrived the weather took a turn for the worse. We shot over 2 days and it rained on both days! But that said we had a great time and everybody enjoyed themselves."

"Of all the videos, we had the most fun making this one," says Mike. "It was really entertaining to see Noel get so into his character and he pulled it off quite well. I actually think he would make a decent actor if he ever decided to give it a whirl. As far as casting the rest of the video I don't think we could have done a better job. 
"It was such an honor to work with Zoe Bell as I've been a huge fan of hers ever since Kill Bill and Death Proof. Omar Doom, also of the Tarantino alumni (Inglorious Basterds, Death Proof), makes a cameo as well. Troy Mittleider was absolutely perfect in the role of the husband who gets his ass kicked. All I can say is...who better to get your ass kicked by than Zoe Bell Another notable presence is Brent DeBoer, drummer of The Dandy Warhols, as the ringside radio announcer. 
"More than any of the videos I've made, my friends in the industry really came together on this one (hair, makeup, wardrobe, production design) to make Dream On something special. Noel and I agree this is the best of the four videos we've collaborated on. 
"One last person I would like to mention is my DP, Salvador Lleo. He really knows how to photograph an image. We first worked together on my second feature (Treasure of the Black Jaguar) and we've been working together ever since. When I first started out I used to shoot everything myself. Salvador and I share a similar obsession with film so our communication, flow and rhythm on set is quite magical. We understand each other and the language of cinema."

The creative renaissance of The Human League is in full swing, and thirty years on from Don't You Want Me (thirty years!), Philip Oakey and his girls still look pretty good. In fact, they prove ready and willing to undergo interesting visual manipulation, courtesy of Ewan Jones Morris and Casey Raymond, in their version of pop vid-mode, for Never Let Me Go. 
The result is a video of invention and wit - Ewan and Casey-style. It's certainly made The League happy. "In an age of compromise it shouts independence, art and boldness," states Phil. "It represents the spirit that I hope the group is about better than any we've ever made."

It's undeniably well-made, but I think Nick Bartleet's video for Pendulum's Showdown is also highly problematic.
In a grim, underworld setting, young women have replaced fighting dogs to provide sport for an ugly bunch of baying males. The violence - actually performed by two experienced martial artists - is extraordinarily vicious, and the camera glories in it. The reaction of the watching pack is all too believable, and the viewer is essentially complicit in the whole degrading spectacle - part of the mob.
Nick Bartleet seeks to balance matters with an ending where one girl escapes - but that's not half as convincing as what precedes it. Still, it's popular! It was meant to be internet-only, but is now A-listed on MTV Dance in the UK and elsewhere.

"Pendulum wanted a video for their new single to feature a gritty fight sequence between two girls, but were open to ideas as to how this could be visually and conceptually achieved. Having listened to the track, it immediately generated ideas of a dark anarchic underworld fighting ring. Drawing parallels from the brutal world of dog fighting I wrote a hard-hitting and uncompromising script.
"With the band having loved the treatment, it was now important to strike the balance between the violent and bloody concept and what would have to become a more palatable video. Isolating one individual and focusing on her heroic struggle and eventual prevailing over the 'bad guys', helped to this end.
"I decided to cast Zara Phythian in the lead role, who I had worked with before on another promo and who is without question one of the most talented female martial artists in the country. The other main fighter is played by the equally incredible Helen Bailey.
"I wanted the fight sequence to feel quite raw, messy and non martial-arts inspired, with moments of clarity and precision but needed to use girls with a high level of skill and control to make the scenes convincing and with the training to endure the rigours of hard concrete and sub zero conditions with very few clothes.
"The video opens in a long corridor with women slumped against the walls, bloodied up. We enter the main arena, which is a vile, cess-pit of an underground warehouse. Bloodied and bruised women bark aggressively from cages, as men prod them through the bars. Our protagonist is forced into the spotlight as dirty men stand, throwing their cash around, making bets and obscene gestures. After a gritty girl / girl, Fight Club-esque battle with frenzied hair pulling, punching and kicking, our hero fights back!"
