Conor Maynard ft Wiley 'Animal' by Tim Mattia

Produced in conjunction with Amp Rock TV, Tim Mattia's promo for Hey, Cruel World features up-close footage of Marilyn Manson in a stunning black and white live montage from Milan to London to Los Angeles. 
Mattia, who has been creating some unique films for AmpRockTV - working with innovative artists such as My Chemical Romance, Korn and Stone Sour, shot the footage on Manson's 2012 world tour.
"I first met Manson in March of this year when he took part in the series 'The Words' for AmpRockTV," says Tim. "It was amazing to work with such an iconic artist, so when he asked me to film some live shows with him, I obviously said yes.
"We shot over four nights in the UK, Italy and America, capturing what I think is one of the world's most exciting live performers at his best."

Tim Mattia creates and directs four seperate unique films for Amp Rock TV - a series of films from innovative artists such as My Chemical Romance, Korn and Marilyn Manson.
This is the first series of 4 films and Tim is already in production on series 2. He'll be shooting 4 series in total composing of 16 films all together. The idea is to create an exhibition later in the year.
" I wanted to shoot something that was purely artist led, something where a band couldn't hide behind anything in front of the lens" explains Tim. "
I wanted to see how lyrics could work as poetry and how artist's would relate to their own work when it was stripped back to just the words. 
"All the bands I've shot so far have been really keen to experiment with their own public personas, and I think thats the key to it. It's a new way of fans seeing their favourite artists - there are moments of real vulnerability which, with global icons like Marilyn Manson, we don't get to see very often".

It's the last day on earth... what would different people be doing in the same three minute period
Taking this as the inspiration for the latest collaboration in his long running relationship with You Me At Six, Tim Mattia explores the full range of human emotion in his unique style, capturing the same three minutes in 33 different peoples' lives.
Shooting in and around LA and Las Vegas for two weeks, the aim was to capture the natural beauty of the epic landscape, as well as natural moments between real people and a powerful performance from the band and singer Josh.
The result is a four minute epic, and possibly Tim's best work yet for the band.

"The video was shot in New York's West Village midway through their current American tour," explains Mattia. "The band spent the day pretty uncomfortably hooked up to the wires but were really good sports and delivered great performances despite it.

For Carl Barat's So Long My Lover Tim Mattia turns in this introspective and touching promo for a 'journey through heartbreak' echoing the sentiment of the lyric. "The theme of the song, and ultimately the video, was 'lost Love'" explains Mattia. "We shot in Dublin, having put out an ad asking people to come and talk about their experiences of lost love. It was an intense day, with people telling us their very personal stories, everything from death and betrayal to miscarriages. 
"One old woman told us how she'd been left at a Thin Lizzy gig by her boyfriend 30 years ago, and she'd never seen him again. As she told us she completely broke down, and afterwards she grabbed hold of Carl and wouldn't let go of him, it was all pretty emotional for everyone there".

Carl Barat’s So Long My Lover by Tim Mattia

Tim Mattia has just shot this satisfyingly destructive clip for Red Light Company, based on the classic German flick Christiane F. The kids (well, good-looking young people) return to school (or is it uni) for a bit of punk-style smash-it-up.
Ross McLennan, nominated at the MVAs for his work with Foals on the Red camera, does it again, and a typically excellent edit from Quin Williams.

Tim's other recent video is this Super 16mm (with added Super 8mm) shot video, photographed by Daniel Trapp, featuring moments of intimacy between Babyshambles' bassist Drew McConnell and Antonia Campbell Hughes, with a Last Supper scene featuring members of The View, The Noisettes and Fionn Regan.
"We shot it all at his house, enlisting the actress and fashion designer Antonia Campbell-Hughes, various band members and south London rappers for the Last Supper scene," explains Tim. "Pete Doherty was due to be one of the disciples but fell asleep just before we shot it. It was decided to leave him to it."
"The song deals with the reluctant breakdown of a relationship - you know, that whole 'courage to change the things I can, strength to accept the things I cannot' kind of situation," adds Drew. "The uncanny thing is the treatment that Tim wrote for the video echoed that feeling of hopelessness exactly, and he wrote it before we'd spoken about the track's subject matter. For me the video shows that something beautiful can come of rot and despair."

BRS's Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell get under each other's skin in Tim Mattia's video for This Is Not For You.
"I've wanted to work with Laura-Mary and Steven for some time and knowing that they're constantly being asked if they're an 'item', I wanted to play with that relationship and replace the sexual tension with something darker and more sinister," says Tim, who's also recently been working with indie 'supergroup' Helsinki and Johnny Foreigner.
And this good-looking video was shot (on a Red cam) by Daniel Trapp.

Blood Red Shoes’ This Is Not For You by Tim Mattia

Tim Mattia had an amazing 2007. He was recruited to shoot bands playing live for a NME DVD covermount at the start of the year and barely had a day off after that, shooting live show after live show all year long.
He has also applied his live performance directing nous to videos - most notably for <a href="http://www.bikinifilms.co.uk/public/newwork/mv/reel/bc_wgam/" _blank="">Biffy Clyro</a> - and he recently went to Nashville to shoot a riotous performance for Cage The Elephant, another hard-rockin' bunch of sons-of-preachers from Kentucky (who happen to now reside in East London). 
Frankly you can almost taste the sweat and lick the excitement. And the seen-it-all-before scorn of the old boozers is a wonderful thing.
