James Whitby&#39;s live action/animation hybrid for Gengahr mixes analogue and digital techniques to replace one of the partners in each of three genuine relationships, so they become&nbsp;abstracted cutouts.Combined with a band performance - where the insturments are similarly replaced by cutouts, creates a charmingly homemade and authentic visual for I&#39;ll Be Waiting - which is Whitby&#39;s follow-up video for Gengahr the Casablanca-set promo for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/02/13/gengahr-sunrise-jamie-whitby">Before Sunrise</a>.

For the second collaboration between Salomon Ligthelm and Young Fathers (following <a href="https://vimeo.com/217809089" target="_blank">Mr Martyr</a>)&nbsp;the director was inspired by the track to create a world where dictators behave like spoilt little children, throwing tantrums because things aren&rsquo;t going their way.Sorry, that is the real world. In this case, Ligthelm actually turns our terrifying leaders into children - a great device at the heart of a stirringly satirical and&nbsp;highly entertaining interpretation of the track Toy.&ldquo;The tone of the track is so visceral and abrasive, which I think marries the political subject matter perfectly,&rdquo; says Ligthelm. &ldquo;Looking at the political climate of our time, I&rsquo;d say truth is certainly stranger than fiction.&rdquo;With a wonderful cast of youngsters playing the nasty rulers, great locations, lovely photography (DoP Steve Annis give it a classic look) and a fine edit by Dan Sherwen, this is a very strong addition to the excellent campaign of videos accompanying the new Young Fathers&#39; album, Cocoa Sugar.&nbsp;&nbsp;

As he says, &quot;it&#39;s a celebration of the sense of freedom and weightlessness that we seem to lose as we get older &ndash; found in a corner of the world where you might not think to look.&quot;

Ali Kurr&#39;s video for Poppy Ajudha - nominated for the Best Dance Video Newcomer award at this year&#39;s UKMVAs - swings from Poppy&#39;s urban girl-gang bathed in red light at night to a coastal landscape in black and white, and an unconventional dance performance.&nbsp;Dancers&nbsp;Mela Murder and Kaner Flex are united under the cliffs at Dover for a performance which incorporates their baby daughter. There&#39;s is actually a long distance relationship - they live on different sides of the Atlantic - so Kurr captures a moment which has its own poignancy as well as working well with Ajudha and Kojey Radical&#39;s sultry soul.

Bouha Kazmi&#39;s beautiful, haunting dance clip for MØ&#39;s Nights With You - her first release of 2017 &ndash;&nbsp;uses architectural ruins to set an incredible scene.Shot mostly in the crumbling remains&nbsp;of Bulgaria&#39;s Communist Party HQ, the dance clip sees MØ and her dancers embrace one another in amongst the monolithic structures to an old discredited regime. The clip melts into a colourful&nbsp;and explosive nighttime&nbsp;scene, contrasting the ruins of the past with a celebration of a more loving and accepting future.&nbsp;The large cast in the video help to cement the image of a hopeful new generation of young people of different countries and backgrounds, standing together - and dancing together.

MØ 'Nights With You' by Bouha Kazmi 

The final part of a trilogy of videos directed by Laura Marling for tracks for her new album Semper Femina, is another dance piece featuring the choreography&nbsp;of Alexandra Green.The piece accompanying the hypnotic The Valley is also very much the flipside of the second part in the trilogy. Here the focus is on the woman on the beach, swathed in flowing blue robes - the object of desire&nbsp;for the tormented woman in the sunlit bedroom in the video for Next Time.This time the action leading to their&nbsp;eventual reunion is extended through the choreography, and the editing, for maximum dramatic effect, which makes their final embrace all the more emotionally satisfying.Suffice to say&nbsp;that having completed this beautiful piece of music - in fact the whole of Semper Femina is wonderful - Marling has now directed a compelling, conceptually rigourous trio of videos which shows she has a real talent&nbsp;as a visual as well as a musical artist.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
