Lizzo continues her charm offensive in this zesty video for Tempo, directed by Andy Hines and co-starring the legendary Missy Elliot.It’s late at night, and everyone’s heading to Lizzo’s diner. The star and her entourage gather in the parking lot for a gravity defying routine that features, amongst other things, twerking low-riders, burning wheels and flying passengers. But as always, it’s Lizzo that commands the camera.From the get-go, the video is testament to a star so naturally charismatic, she makes a flute solo look aspirational. And then, to top it all off, Missy Elliot backflips out of a car bonnet - an image you didn’t know you needed until you've see it.Tempo looks both contemporary and loveably old school, like it could have existed in any era of hip-hop. The video is rendered in bold,&nbsp;broad strokes of red and blue, achieved through harmonious styling, makeup and production design.Lizzo for President!

Logic&#39;s song 1-800-273-8255 addresses the mental health crisis that plagues the developed world and the increasing number of&nbsp;young people taking their own lives -&nbsp;the phone number in the title is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number in the US. Now Andy Hines&#39; has directed a very fine video for the song, dramatising the struggles of a young man who has to deal with his family being unable to accept his burgeoning sexuality.The video delivers movie-style production values, with standout performances from the actors, including some well-known faces: Don Cheadle stars as the young man&#39;s father,&nbsp;Luis Guzmán as his school basketball coach, Matthew Modine as the father of his first boyfriend. It&#39;s a sensitively told and utterly convincing story of a young man&#39;s decline into despair - in a country where acting on an impulse to suicide is relatively easy.But what makes this a really good piece of work is that it&#39;s&nbsp;also about how&nbsp;otherwise decent people can harbour discriminatory views that without being challenged will destroy other people&#39;s lives. But they can change, and it&#39;s distinctly possible that people who watch this video will be positively affected by it too.

Andrew Thomas Huang takes a bold step into pop video territory, and presents R&amp;B singer Kelela as a mesmerizing figure of many guises for LMK.Huang presents Kelela like a one-person girlband, as she takes on different personas through sections of the song - kind of appropriate for a singer who&#39;s sound harks back to the classic Nineties R&amp;B of bands like TLC and En Vogue. But whoever the character she&#39;s playing, Kelela delivers&nbsp;her message down the lens of the camera through a crowded confined space that&#39;s shimmering with colour and light.Such is Huang&#39;s mastery of his colour palette&nbsp;this venture into a mainstrream genre, and giving it an edgy twist, is a very exciting move.

Floria Sigismondi&#39;s latest in her series for LA-singer Lawrence Rothman, for the exceptional rock and roll title of&nbsp;California Paranoia&nbsp;is the latest where Rothman&nbsp;embodies nine different personas (he does that in all his songs and videos apparently), while&nbsp;Floria exercises her trademark brand of gothic-influenced glamour.This time we are invited into a cavernous Old Hollywood mental&nbsp;institution where a&nbsp;bearded, albino&nbsp;nurse, played by Rothman, sifts through a mess of anti-psychotic&nbsp;meds he is charged with&nbsp;dispensing&nbsp;to an&nbsp;unstable, flamboyant crop of&nbsp;patients - a gallery of oddballs (created by if not played by Rothman; maybe he plays some of them too?) who soon involve the nurse in their baroque delusions.&nbsp;After much&nbsp;cavorting, Sigismondi leads us to the gruesome finale, which puts a visceral,&nbsp;absurd&nbsp;punctuation mark on the end of the film. But also kind of sweet.
