Ali Kurr visualises a sexy Nineties fever dream in her video for Bree Runway's Little Nokia.&nbsp;With the song name-checking&nbsp;one of the most iconic - and indestructable - phones ever on the market, the promo sees Runway being interrupted by a&nbsp;Nokia 3310 every time she tries to get intimate with her man.&nbsp;Cutting to a grungy garage, a spiked mohican-sporting Bree hangs from the roof, before mounting a mechanical bull, artfully refashioned to&nbsp;resemble a giant Nokia. It's a feast of nostalgia with an edgy and dark undertone, and the reference to 1983 body horror Videodrome in the final scene is a perfect way to polish off the concept.&nbsp;Strikingly shot by DoP&nbsp;Amelia Hazlerigg, the aesthetic is perfectly balanced between commercial and quirky, with just a touch of creepy to keep viewers on their toes.&nbsp;“For this video I wanted to pay homage to the MTV greats," says Kurr, "But blend and package them together so it feels totally fresh and unique.” Job done.

Joe Connor directs a wet and wonderful promo for Biffy Clyro's Space.&nbsp;Sitting in a car under thunderous downpours, vocalist Simon Neil is lost in thought alongside his partner, played by Jasmine Chiu. Moving from the vehicle into a black infinity studio space, the pair dive into passionate choreography as the unrelenting rain soaks them through.&nbsp;Starting as a minimalist dance concept, the video moves into deep water&nbsp;as Neil and Chiu finds themselves submerged, their movements strikingly graceful and&nbsp;poetic.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Ruben Woodin Dechamps contrasts the warm glow of the headlights and lamp with cool, icey blues, representing the fluctuating emotions and abstract energy of the concept.&nbsp;

Rina Sawayama and Ali Kurr's previous videos, for STFU!&nbsp;and <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/04/30/rina-sawayama-xs-ali-kurr/64485" target="_blank">XS</a>&nbsp;have shown an artist capable of taking on vibrant, madcap personas. The video for Bad Friend is another case entirely, and just as intriguing: Rina becomes a character in an old Japanese movie - a young male salaryman, who's heart has just been broken.Taking their seat in a dive bar,&nbsp;Sawayama's character stares at a wedding ring in a mist of cigarette smoke. It's been a bad day, and it's time to drink away all the emotions.&nbsp;Then they are suddenly interrupted by another older customer, who insists the sad salaryman accept his offer to drink whisky with him.Then things take their course, as they do in bars. Misery turns to drunken jollity - but then things turn surprisingly nasty. Things degenerate into a believably messy bar brawl, to the horror of the&nbsp;few other inhabitants of the bar. But that's not quite the end of the story...From the intriguing setting - and&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Amelia Hazlerigg gives this a real film noir flair that elevates the dramatic mood from the start - it is a wonderfully well-constructed and performed narrative that makes this arguably Sawayama and Kurr's&nbsp;most satisfying collaboration yet.

Rina&nbsp;Sawayama laments materialism in the time of global warming, in Ali Kurr's tongue-in-cheek video for XS.&nbsp;Described&nbsp;by Sawayama as a "kind of a mockery of everyone, including myself", the visual portrays&nbsp;her as a bubbly&nbsp;QVC-like salesperson, hawking a shimmering beverage that’s 99% 24k gold and 1%… plasma?&nbsp;As the clip plays out, it’s revealed that the shopping channel host isn’t what she appears, and the source of the drink’s “new improved recipe” is a macabre Soylent Green nightmare.Part-Stepford Wives, part-Alien vs Predator, and all-round brilliant, the video is as&nbsp;exciting and unabashed as the track, which repeatedly circles from Pop to R&amp;B and thrash metal&nbsp;in its four-minute runtime.Liz El Kadhi's art direction is a real highlight, utilising vibrant colours and props to offset the spooky undercurrent, paired with&nbsp;Celia Arias' slick styling, in Ali Kurr's second collaboration with Sawayama, following the equally vibrant video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/11/26/rina-sawayama-stfu-ali-kurr-now-signed-darkroom/62096" target="_blank">STFU!</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;

After helming the first few videos from the new album Metronomy Forever, frontman Joseph Mount cedes directing duties to old collaborator Dan Brereton. Very good move.This reunion of the minds that brought us the first Metronomy videos over a decade ago, has now produced a lovely video for Wedding Bells - simple in concept, extremely artful and accomplished in its execution.It's a house party, where now five-piece band are gamely playing in the corner. But this get-together of hormonal teenagers is not what we might expect: its daytime, there's little sign of booze, there's lots of nice party food. Indeed, it really does resemble a much younger person's party.In the midst, one lad becomes smitten with a girl... who is with another guy. But within the logic of the piece - an afternoon nap, a dream sequence, and things getting&nbsp;out of hand in a kid's party way - things may work out...From the location to the casting, art direction and photography in 4:3 by Ruben Woodin Dechamps, this is as good a Metronomy video as we've seen in a while. And lovely to see the band back with Dan Brereton - they&nbsp;always come up with good ones.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Felix Brady&#39;s second video for Col3trane is another VFX-fired feat of visual ingenuity, to show he&#39;s a young director who&#39;s becoming a dab hand at bringing old school tech bang up to date.Like his first Col3trane video - for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/01/18/col3trane-ebenezer-language-felix-brady" target="_blank">Language (ft Ebenezer)</a>, nominated at this year&#39;s UKMVAs - this one for Tyler sees multiple versions of the young London rapper turn up in one continuous shot. Where the first video drops Col3trane at different spots across East London, this one is far more in-your-face and somewhat claustrophobic. A swirling camera picks up different&nbsp;Coles, going after the same girl - and all takes place inside&nbsp;(and outside)&nbsp;the confined space of a caravan travelling down a country road.Once again Brady puts his faith to MOCO, just like in the Language video, and makes the most of Col3trane&#39;s undoubted charisma, charm and flair of the visually inventive (he&#39;s also nominated at the UKMVAs for the Oscar Hudson-directed video for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/08/08/col3trane-fear-loathing-britney-oscar-hudson" target="_blank">Fear &amp; Loathing/Britney</a>.&nbsp;

After a spot of chokey, Buddy would like some quiet, keep-out-of-trouble time - but things aren&#39;t that simple on a South London estate. Even if you&#39;re a bulldog.Buddy&#39;s problem - if you want to call it that - is that he&#39;s willing to take a fall for his devoted yet hapless owner. And Eoin Glaister gets plenty of comic mileage out of that scenario in this video for Kele from Bloc Party.&nbsp;This is the latest of a fantastic run of videos by Glaister in 2017. After his ambitious trilogies for Aquilo and All We Are, we have come to expect great performances from his work - by humans. Now he shows he can turn bulldogs into stars. A bloody marvellous video.

The&nbsp;Vamps&nbsp;are back with their single All Night,&nbsp;featuring&nbsp;Matoma, paired with a highly&nbsp;engaging POV video from director Craig Moore.&nbsp;The guys clearly know how to have a good time, taking us right along with us on a typical day out for them. Starting in their tour bus, the boys take the viewer on a journey through the city on a high-speed bike ride to the basketball court, until night time when they play to hundreds of fans.&nbsp;The highlight of the video perhaps, sees an alternating POV format following the individual band members&#39; perspectives - swapping&nbsp;each time&nbsp;the&nbsp;guys high five.
