Huse Monfaradi directs a splendidly vibrant, and wittily retro&nbsp;live visual for Declan McKenna's Be An Astronaut.&nbsp;With a single line of silver glitter drawn on his face, the indie-rock prodigy sets aside the more heavy surrealism seen in his official videos, and goes all-in with a dynamic live performance of old school glam rock.&nbsp;Paying homage to iconic artists in the genre - particularly Hunky Dory-era Bowie and early Elton&nbsp;-&nbsp;the&nbsp;track is visualised through a lively and unabashed performance from McKenna, backed up by a handful of equally animated, and appropriately&nbsp;styled&nbsp;musicians.&nbsp;The location is excellent too, toeing the line between derelict and palatial. And Monfaradi's canny use of camera&nbsp;and lenses seals the early '70s vibe,&nbsp;and works well in the themes of dreams vs reality that run through the lyrics.&nbsp;

Emil Nava keeps up his track record of delivering slick, visually rich pop performance videos with an edge.This clip for Jennifer Hudson is awash with electric blue light that drenches the vast, dilapidated space that Hudson performs in. Cutting between this sparse, striking visual and footage of Hudson making her way through a crowded rave&nbsp;is a great contrast.Somehow the rave scene manages to be visually reminiscent of the infamous &#39;hammer fight&#39; scene in Oldboy, except with more colourful partying and less hammer-based violence. No? Just me?

As he&rsquo;s spent 2013 being praised to the heavens for his godlike genius, and most people think he can probably walk on water (and maybe even rose from the dead&hellip;) David Bowie actually plays Christ in Floria Sigismondi&rsquo;s video for The Next Day.
Also starring Bowie&rsquo;s pal Gary Oldman, as a bad guy priest who turns up at the Catholic church&rsquo;s favourite bar, and Marion Cotillard as a courtesan with blood-spurting stigmata. Floria does not stint on the symbolic Catholic imagery and characters (including a Joan of Arc, a self-flagellating priest and deeply immoral Cardinal) and their proximity to fun and debauchery. Nor the blood, of which there are bucketloads. Which all added up to a &lsquo;ban&rsquo; &ndash; it went missing on YouTube for a few hours on the day of release &ndash; and another PR triumph.
But it all makes sense in a strange way &ndash; and as it features Marion Cotillard losing herself in sensual reverie&hellip; well, say no more. And Bowie maintains a canny position of being almost a co-star in his own video &ndash; and a restrained sense of humour, as indicated by his speech of thanks at the end. Wuzza wuzz.
