His video for To Kill A King&rsquo;s&nbsp;Cold Skin&nbsp;was his first shown here. Now Jack King&rsquo;s first video at Run Productions is the Yorkshire band&rsquo;s Fictional State &ndash; their first release since signing to Virgin Records. And it&rsquo;s nothing less than a sprawling, decidedly non-linear epic of family life, involving love, hate and quite possibly attempted murder, all set in one home.&ldquo;I&rsquo;d been listening to an old demo of the track for over a year before they got signed, so I was pretty elated to get asked to make the video for it,&rdquo; says Jack. &ldquo;The band wanted the video shot up north, so we shot it in a house in Bradford that had been empty for 23 years &ndash; home only to the occasional glue enthusiast.&ldquo;We had a great mix of talented crew from the north and south, and it was the first time I&rsquo;d not suffered heart problems so it clearly worked! I loved how everyone mucked in and grafted solidly for two days, especially how half the crew went behind the call of duty and played roles in the video which I feel a bit bad about but I&rsquo;m sure they enjoyed it really.&ldquo;Elliot, the 1st AD and producer played the director when scheduling changes meant the actor penned in couldn&rsquo;t make it, Anna the art director played the midwife, Ralph&rsquo;s (singer) dad played the priest, and the audience at the end was all of us.&ldquo;It was weird because that was also the last scene we filmed &ndash; it was a surreal, multi-layered, self &ndash; fulfilling thing that was really symbolic to me because of what the whole thing is about.&rdquo;- See more at: http://www.promonews.tv/2011/04/27/to-kill-a-king%e2%80%99s-fictional-state-by-jack-king/#sthash.jkubnKHu.dpuf

His boyband-baiting video-directing debut last year for Hot Chip caused a sensation, much hilarious YouTubery, and won an MVA - for best dance video. Now, for Alex Metric and Steve Angello's Open Your Eyes (featuring Ian Brown), comedy actor Peter Serafinowicz is back with his second video - and even more mind-boggling cartoon mayhem. And Peter is in this one too - his version of Sly Stallone's original, immortal creation. 
The premise is simple: warm-hearted pugilist Peter takes on his most formidable opponent yet - a boxing robot. So really its Rocky meets Robocop... 
Peter manages to pack in a full supporting cast from at least two movies, puts in a superb stone-faced, mind-addled performance himself, and then there's the impressively robotic ED-210 (operated by puppeteer-maestro Johnny Sabbagh). It all adds up to three and a half minutes of sheer improbable entertainment - and it's really not over til its over. 
There probably won't be any more sequels after this one...

For the full-throttle dubstep of True Tiger's Slang Like This, Sam Pilling unveils a 'day in the life' type scenario with rapper P-Money walking the viewer through his 'hood. 
"For me the song has a real good vibes community feel to it and I wanted to emphasise this in the video by getting community members to sync different lyrics from the track" explains Pilling. 
"A one-day shoot in and around P-Money's neighbourhood, we spent the morning wandering around Forest Hill Station and up Dartmouth Road approaching members of the public to feature in the video.? ?Alongside this we filmed a lot of sync and P really nailed the performances, banging them out with energy and dynamic, all day long. As another way of making it appear that P was showing 'us' a glimpse of South London life I wanted to break the 'fourth wall' by following behind P-Money as he walked around, in an almost documentary style then getting him to turn and rap directly to camera.??
"To further emphasise the community spirit and as a nice visual to end the track, we orchestrated a sort of 'street party' (reminiscent of one of DJ Kool Herc's from the 70s in the Bronx.) Void Audio very kindly brought down some epic 'Stasys 3' speakers, The True Tiger boys set up their DJ gear and we stole some power from a local tower block tenant. True Tiger mixed live for the crowd, DJ Cable showed up to scratch up the records and some break-dancers came down to rock the party! I think it is safe to say that a good time was had by all!"

A few months after the tragic death of Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous, his collaboration with Brian Burton aka Danger Mouse, with a title that never appeared to be more apt, is finally seeing the light of day, despite it threatening to fall into 'lost album' status with a near-perverse 'no-music' release a year or so back.
Having collaborated Gorillaz-style with an impressive roster of vocalists for the album (including Black Francis, Gruff Rhys, Nina Persson, Iggy Pop, Julian Casablancas, and Vic Chesnutt - also sadly now deceased) Danger Mouse called on David Lynch do add the visual dimension, resulting in a series of photographs, as well as him also contributing two songs.

It really does work, because of Lynch's typically unsettling vision, but also the album trailer is an interesting concept in itself and the Super 8 look certainly does represent the lo-fo aesthetic and damaged genius of Mark Linkous's music.

In contrast to their earlier promo for Devil's Spoke - filmed in the 35 degree heat of Goa - the directing duo Fred &amp; Nick take Laura Marling to the icy cold English Channel at Brighton for the acoustic ballad Rambling Man. And they found a hardy soul to actually brave the waters.
Lensed by a dry-suited Jonas Mortensen and graded by Aubrey Woodiwiss, Fred &amp; Nick bring out the stark introspection of Marling's musings to beautiful effect. And if sending someone into freezing water isn't enough there's drama here too.

Adam Powell's latest video for Jamie T returns to the irresistible formula of the MVA-nominated Fire Fire. 
In other words, up close and personal with Jamie, on tour in Australia - this time intercut with lyric-illustrating stock footage. Adam, with his skate filmmaking background, does the intimate-action thing superbly well - not least on the golf course. 
Rollicking fun - and comparisons with Spike's Beastie Boys vids are not invidious.

"Quite often you're making videos look like they're shot on film, trying to get beautiful photography inexpensively. With Jamie we're not trying to hide anything, which is a nice way to work. It's all about getting the fun stuff and the energy, and still wanting to make things look good. 
"Jamie and I were friends years ago, and we had a long chat before Fire Fire about what we liked about videos, and it kept coming back to the Beastie Boys vids. It's cheated in the way that we have been guided by that.
"This was going back to Fire Fire and I shot this one myself. The original feed of the idea came from Jamie - it was to have the video composed of footage that reflected the lyrics. And we tried to find footage that was saturated in the culture that it came from. 
"Then I was in Australia with Jamie, shooting on DVC Pro HD - a nice big beautiful piece of kit. It's all about capturing the little moments between Jamie and the band. The golf cart footage is all one take and quite honestly I could have used all of it as a one-shot video. I was hanging off the side of Jamie's cart - and I fell off at the end."
