Warren Fu channels epic Romantic art in his stunning, mesmeric&nbsp;video for Phoenix.The video for the iconic French rock band's Winter Solstice opens with vocalist Thomas Mars balancing on the edge of a cliff, performing under stormy skies - in the manner of a Caspar David Friedrich painting.Fu takes us through a series of related compositions from landscape&nbsp;to extreme close-up to accentuate the deeply reflective mood of the song and Mars's performance. Then the clouds part and reveal a whimsical menagerie of abstract graphics, in the style of early surrealism - and fireworks.[imgtoken data:1]With outstanding cinematography by UKMVA-nominee Christopher Ripley, the&nbsp;black and white visual treatment adds a&nbsp;dreamy sentimentality to the project, which culminates in a bittersweet ending that leaves plenty open to interpretation:&nbsp;Mars dives from his lonely&nbsp;peak, and as the video ends he is stiull floating freely in space.&nbsp;This is a wonderfully-crafted and evocative work - as you&nbsp;would expect from this hugely talented director and the effortlessly cool artist.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Now imagine it occupying, as we now do, an era which historians will come to call &#39;Post-Hotline Bling&#39;. Oh, also there are dancing Pandas. It&#39;s hyper-colourful, it&#39;s carefree and breezy and it&#39;s more theatrical than it is cinematic. But it wears this vibe on its sleeve (or kimono, or whatever). Works a treat.

After establishing the cinematic &#39;70s Hollywood world in the brilliant <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2016/07/13/midnight-monaco-one-million-nicolas-randall-marc-edouard-leon" target="_blank">One In A Million</a>, Nicolas Randall is back with a development of the story in a new video for Midnight to Monaco.Ricky, the aspiring actor from the previous instalment in this gorgeous-looking narrative saga, now has a singing career and this video sees him build up his first track with the help of the manager who &#39;discovered&#39; him in rather illicit circumstances (again, watch the last video for context).Film some excellent production design and styling, combined with legendary locations like East West studios, the video sells itself as a glistening fictional period piece perfectly. Who knows where Ricky&#39;s career will take him next, but you get the feeling his story is not over yet.

Midnight to Monaco 'One Way Ticket' by Nicolas Randall

Nicolas Randall &amp; Marc-Edouard Leon deliver a night-crawling, sleazy and heartbreakingly bleak video for Midnight to Monaco.&nbsp;Tackling the subject of male prostitution in 80s LA was never going to be pretty, and this video makes every scenario seem sinister and cold. Nobody genuinely smiles, there&#39;s no passion in anything seen here and the neon lights of cheap motels illuminate a world cast under Hollywood&#39;s shadow with a sickly glow - beautifully shot, it must be said, by DoP Starr Whitesides.&nbsp;It&#39;s not an easy watch, but it&#39;s certainly a rewarding one - with Midnight To Monaco&#39;s Ricky Ducati convincing&nbsp;in the lead role as the wannabe actor turned hustler.&nbsp;The bookending of the video&nbsp;with a VHS scene adds a sinister, voyeuristic element to a story where the young and the pretty try and thrive and quickly find themselves becoming obsolete.&nbsp;

A-Trak 'We All Fall Down' by Nicolas Randall

Floria Sigismondi&#39;s latest in her series for LA-singer Lawrence Rothman, for the exceptional rock and roll title of&nbsp;California Paranoia&nbsp;is the latest where Rothman&nbsp;embodies nine different personas (he does that in all his songs and videos apparently), while&nbsp;Floria exercises her trademark brand of gothic-influenced glamour.This time we are invited into a cavernous Old Hollywood mental&nbsp;institution where a&nbsp;bearded, albino&nbsp;nurse, played by Rothman, sifts through a mess of anti-psychotic&nbsp;meds he is charged with&nbsp;dispensing&nbsp;to an&nbsp;unstable, flamboyant crop of&nbsp;patients - a gallery of oddballs (created by if not played by Rothman; maybe he plays some of them too?) who soon involve the nurse in their baroque delusions.&nbsp;After much&nbsp;cavorting, Sigismondi leads us to the gruesome finale, which puts a visceral,&nbsp;absurd&nbsp;punctuation mark on the end of the film. But also kind of sweet.
